Counselling for long-term health conditions

We provide integrative counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy CBT to adults (18+) living with long-term health conditions whether newly diagnosed conditions or ongoing.

 

Many of our clients experience a combination of physical and emotional challenges including anxiety, depression, pain and difficulty adjusting to lifestyle changes.

We work collaboratively with people managing a wide range of conditions and our sessions focus on personalised, value-driven strategies to help people adjust, build resilience, confidence and self-care.

Long-term health conditions include

 

  • Cancer

  • COPD / Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

  • Cardiac problems

  • Diabetes

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Haemochromatosis

  • IBS / Irritable Bowel Syndrome

  • MSK / Musculoskeletal conditions

 

 

The problems people with long-term conditions can vary from time-to-time and may include

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Pain

  • Mobility

  • Relationships

  • Sleeping

Our interventions may include the following:

 

  • Education about the condition

  • Practical support for medical adherence

  • Guidance in self care and adjusting daily routines

  • Addressing emotional needs

  • Help to manage emotions like uncertainty, loss and frustration

  • Support to sustain social connections to return to work and establish lasting self-care habits
